About the ILBHP
The Illinois Brain Health Project (ILBHP) focuses on educating the public about modifiable risks and healthy lifestyle practices that promote brain health. The ILBHP promotes best practice strategies to reduce the prevalence of key modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline, particularly for diverse, underserved, and higher risk communities across Illinois. This project also seeks to strategize the integration of brain health and Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) risk information into the health promotion messaging and risk reduction activities of other chronic diseases, such as collaboratively promoting shared lifestyle and health behaviors that support both brain health and physical health.
This project is a partnership between the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter.

Illinois Department of Public Health
IDPH is reaching people across Illinois by educating families on the early signs of Alzheimer's and related dementias; training the dementia care workforce on core competencies for working with people living with dementia and guiding the state's response through Illinois' Alzheimer's Disease Plan and annual Dementia Capability reports.
Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter
In Illinois, an estimated 250,600 seniors age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's. More than 465,000 caregivers dedicate 668 million hours of unpaid care. From Chicago to Peoria to Southern Illinois and every town in between, your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is here to help.
Partners across Illinois
ILBHP partners with a diverse network of organizations across Illinois — from community health centers to faith groups to local libraries — to promote brain health through community programming and targeted outreach.
